Natural preserve Obersauer – Slate Quarries of Martelange

Departure in the morning via Saeul, Grosbous, Eschdorf to Esch-sur-Sure, known for its medieval old town built around the castle, situated on a rocky outcrop in a meander of the river Sauer. An artificial lake is nearby. In the morning, guided tour of the natural preserve “Naturpark Uewersauer”. Thereafter a presentation in the former cloth mill. Move on to the Restaurant Roder in Perlé. Enlarged and renovated in 2013, this prestigious house offers an ideal spot for lunch. Possibility to visit the small military museum which describes the story of two hapless U.S. bombers collided around Perlé. In the afternoon onwards to Martelange and visit of the slate quarries. During this visit you will discover the slate, its features and conditioning from extraction to the finished product. Old photos bring back this brilliant time. Return to your village. Possibility to have dinner in a restaurant of your choice.
